This is going to be erected on the Community Hub site and will hopefully be used to grow some food for use in the café.

Two of the Hub Committee came over to help, and between the four of us we managed to get the benches deconstructed, the large quantity of sand which had been on them relocated to become part of an enormous al fresco toilet paradise for the cats, the glass removed from the frame and part of the frame itself deconstructed. I started this at 7:15am and have just finished at after 7pm so a long, hard but rewarding day….

The pictures show the trailer loaded down with the glass, frame parts and several hundred plant pots; the partially deconstructed greenhouse, and some lovely fresh duck eggs we were given by one of the committee who has a small holding. Looking forward to those in a nice omelette… Also looking forward to bed tonight as pretty exhausted after all this…

Community Hub Meeting (with cake) https://www.donich.co.uk/blog/2015/04/18/community-hub-meeting-with-cake/ https://www.donich.co.uk/blog/2015/04/18/community-hub-meeting-with-cake/#respond Sat, 18 Apr 2015 21:42:58 +0000 http://www.donich.co.uk/?p=4520 R and I went to the village hall this morning for a meeting about the new Community Hub which is (hopefully) going to be put up on the old curling field near the bridge. This land was kindly donated for a community project – and looks as though it will be put to good use.

The plan is to have a café, a shop and one or more of a number of ideas still to be threshed out such as business areas, studios, a community garden/farm etc. I think this is a really exciting idea, as did the vast majority of people at the meeting. There were lots of people turned out for chat, coffee and cakes (my lemon curd cake pictured :)), so let’s hope that some of these turn out for action and we can really help the committee get the show on the road.

R and I have our part to play in this tomorrow (of which more later). I am told the cake was pretty good….
